The centres of our historic and picturesque market towns play an important role in our economy and remain vital as places for people to live, meet, access services and enjoy themselves.
Working in partnership, we’re committed to reimagining and reshaping Staffordshire’s high streets, towns and local centres, developing bespoke plans and transforming the places we call home to create thriving, vibrant new communities – new destinations where people will want to live, work, invest and visit.
With a projected investment of £500million, the Stafford Station Gateway masterplan will transform 27 hectares of brownfield land to the west of Stafford Station, with high quality, low-carbon homes, Grade A office space, a new hotel, retail and leisure space.
A £20m investment will bring a new economic purpose by delivering a highly visible transformational change, and act as the catalyst for its longer-term revival.
A £23.8m grant will make the most of the town’s hidden heritage, its unique river setting and its location at the heart of the National Forest, including mixed use redevelopment of the High Street between the town centre and riverside, new further education facilities, enhanced walking and cycling networks and the relocation and modernisation of the town’s library.
Major regeneration plans will enhance the quality of the city centre environment, with primary opportunities including the 7-acre city centre site designed to reshape the landscape for both residents and visitors and bring long-term sustainable change.
The award-winning New Vic Theatre is one of the country’s most successful independent producing theatres, with town centre events and festivals celebrating our cultural heritage, while the Town Centre is seeing a major transformation of shopping and mixed-use residents.
Work is well under way with a £40m investment package to completely transform the vibrant town centre, with the relocation of a brand new flagship further Education College.
