Details

A combined £35m investment from the Town Deal and Future High Street Funds will be used to create a vibrant market town where citizens of all ages have the opportunity to flourish. Key projects in this vision are:

Ryepark Regeneration
Transformation of a 4.2 acre site in Newcastle town centre to house a mixed residential development within an extensively landscaped public realm, creating new social space and a modern multi storey car park and other town centre uses, and improving connectivity between the town centre and its surrounding communities.

Astley Place
Reimagining the 0.8 acre area occupied by a dated and under-used shopping centre to bring residential, restaurant and commercial uses, while significantly uplifting the setting of Red Lion Square and creating new green public realm and improved pedestrian connections in this area.

Gateway sites at Midway and Zanzibar
Innovative repurposing of a multi storey car park for residential uses at the aged Midway multi storey car park on its replacement by the new parking at Ryecroft. Restoration of a derelict town centre gateway by Aspire Housing at the former Zanzibar nightclub for residential and business use.

Keele in Town
A town centre hub by Keele University, as well as courses at a range of levels this will provide a space where:
• Newcastle-under-Lyme residents and eligible businesses will be able to
access a range of free digital support opportunities
• Community events, such as art exhibitions, can be held
• Keele students and staff can work flexibly
• People and businesses can access free legal advice on certain areas of law
from Keele’s Legal Advice Clinics
• Small groups and businesses can meet and stage presentations

Sustainable Connections
Improving the transport and digital infrastructure with the roll out of a fibre network enabling a sustainable and connected future for businesses and residents in Newcastle under Lyme.

High Street and Market Area
Revitalising the market area with updated market stalls and a new flexible outdoor performance space in the heart of the high street.
