Demolition of disused car park and retail units under way, construction of residential and commercial mixed use development begins Summer 2025
The council owns a significant area of land in Cannock town centre and following a successful bid for £20m from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, has a vision: to regenerate and rejuvenate Cannock town centre. The demolition of a disused multi-storey carpark and redundant retail units to prepare the site for residential and commercial development is already underway, with construction expected to begin in summer 2025. An outdated subway and rundown surface car park are also being rejuvenated to provide an attractive gateway to the town.
Leisure and Culture Improving the current Theatre and creating new community facilities with café and restaurant spaces.
Connectivity Improving travel connections throughout the town centre, including new cycle parking and trails.
Business and Skills workspace Providing managed workspace, meeting rooms and incubator units in the town centre with links to the college.
Removal of eyesores and celebration of assets Addressing disused spaces and maximising opportunities around the cultural hub.
